Lengua de Gato! (Cat's Tongue Cookies)

I don't know where this actually originated but every time my parents went out of town, they would always bring food as pasalubong. Lengua de Gato, also known as Cat's Tongue because of its shape and size, is one of my favorites because it just melts in your mouth and you simply won't notice that you've finished all of them in barely one sitting. It is a cookie resembling a cat's tongue, basically made of flour, butter, and egg whites.

Variations, depending on your taste:

Ingredients:
Butter
Cake flour
Sugar
Salt
Egg whites (2 eggs)
Vanilla
How to make Lengua De Gato
  • Mix together butter and sugar until creamy. Then add egg white eventually, add flour and salt by folding.
  • Add the last ingredient which is vanilla and mix them all until smooth.
  • Use a piping bag or improvise and make small 2 & 1/2 inch long oblong shaped batter over a greased baking sheet.
  • Preheat an oven for about 10 minutes, then bake the cookies for 6-9 minutes.
  • Serve!
